Our Promotion

"For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one and setteth up another." Psalm 75:6, 7

Promotion means to raise or lift. It means to elevate to a position that is much higher than the present situation. Reasons for promotion can be many. For a job well done or based on qualification or experience or expertise in performing a task. It is a way of honoring an individual.

In this portion of scripture we see God dealing with man. God knows everything about man because He created him. God says,
"They are all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."Rom 3:12.

In Psalm 14:1, 3; 53:1, 3 and many more scripture verses picture man as corrupt, filthy and carrying out abominable works. In short man is full of sin. With such sinful men, is there anything in man will be deserving promotion? The descriptions of man's nature in Romans 1:26-32 does not deserve any consideration by God for promotion. Man had lost his fellowship with God.

How can such sinful man be raised to a higher position? The answer lies in the plan that originated from God, which was determined before the foundations of the world (1Pet. 1:20), to restore the broken fellowship between God and man. God's love and mercy towards man flowed down to man through time.

God send His Son Jesus Christ in the fullness of time (Gal. 4:4) into this world to redeem man. The creator of the universe was made a little lower than the angles (Heb.2:9) and was made in the likeness of men (Phi. 2:6, 7). The relegation of our Lord Jesus Christ is a wonder in itself. In fact he was demoted for a time to be like man. His demotion became the grounds for man's promotion. Man was promoted. God showed man unmerited favor.

God has exalted Jesus Christ to the highest position (Phi. 2:8-11). Our salvation has been procured. Man was raised together with Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:3-8) and made to sit together with him. A promotion we did not deserve. God has promoted us. Hallelujah glory be our God who loved us.
