Bible verse for today (move the mouse to the reference to read the verse)
(John 16:20) “Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. And you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.”
The disciples of Jesus were not able to understand many things Jesus said to them. One such thing was concerning His death and resurrection. They had seen Jesus resurrect Jairus’s daughter, the son of the widow of Nain, and Lazarus. However, how can Jesus die and resurrect Himself. God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. They were very sorrowful when Jesus died. They were afraid of the world and did not expose themselves publicly. When the witnesses came to tell them that Jesus was alive and they had seen Him and spoke to Him, they were filled with unbelief. Their joy was restored when Jesus appeared to them when they had gathered with the doors shut. Slowly they revived. They started remembering the things Jesus had told them. It was on the day of Pentecost that they were able to preach boldly about Jesus. The Comforter (Holy Spirit) had come and was leading them now. Their joy knew no bounds and they were bold.

Our joy also must have no limits because all those who believed are recipients of the Holy Spirit. We like the disciples have a hope. That hope will carry us through the times of our trials. One day, soon and very soon, Jesus will gather unto Himself all those who are His own. Then will we experience the fullness of joy. All our sorrows will be gone and joy will be everywhere. Have you this hope of a joyful future or are you sliding down the slippery slope of despair and hopelessness? Come to Jesus he will carry you through this troubled life and world.
