We are Christians. We have to be careful how the world views us. Our actions speak volumes. We do things in the Name of the Lord. By far we have done little if any to help others. We are content to be within the four walls of our assembly. That is not what Christ asked us to do. One of the easiest ways to express the love of God to people who are not believers is to help them in their need. When people are in need, they will accept help. This had to be done in a way that the left hand does not know what the right had does. When it is done with great fanfare, we have deviated from what we are taught in the Word of God.
“Therefore when you do your merciful deeds, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do merciful deeds, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does, so that your merciful deeds may be in secret. In addition, your Father who sees in secret Himself shall reward you openly. Moreover, when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward”. Mat 6:2-5.
We do things not to please men but God. We give not to men but unto God. We love because God loved us. We show mercy because God was merciful to us. We forgive because God forgave us. We pray for others because we care. Jesus Christ commanded us to preach the gospel. We have hope because Jesus Christ arose from the dead. We have become a new creation because he has recreated us. We are the people of God. We must resist and overcome self and sin.
