THE PERSISTENT WORD
Bible verse for today (move the mouse to the reference to read the verse)
Jeremiah 36:32 So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.
Comment
After King Jehoiakim of Judah burnt the scroll on which was recorded God’s words of prophecy, the Lord commanded Jeremiah to write another scroll. His Word defines creation and He knows it ! Unfortunately mankind doesn’t care. God’s words gives life and peace, warns and admonishes - 2Peter 1:12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.15 Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.Jesus Christ is the Word. God binds Himself to His Word. How much more should we? Disregarding Him and His Word has serious consequences. He persistently comes after us with His Word just as Jesus who came to seek and painfully serach that which was lost. JP
